Christian evangelist Franklin Graham strongly criticized the “Evangelicals for Harris” group for using footage of his late father in an attack ad against former President Trump.
As the president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse, organizations founded by his late father, Billy Graham, a renowned evangelist and an American cultural icon, Franklin Graham expressed his dismay. A statue of Billy Graham was even placed in the U.S. Capitol in May.
Evangelicals for Harris, previously known as Evangelicals for Biden, operates under Faith Voters, a 501(c)4 organization.
During a Zoom conference by the group, hosted by “reparations activist” Ekemini Uwan, controversial statements were made about race and policing.
A recent attack ad by the pro-Harris group contrasts footage of Billy Graham discussing the confession of sins with an old clip of Trump expressing uncertainty about seeking forgiveness from God.
Franklin Graham reacted by criticizing Evangelicals for Harris for using his father’s image and stated that if his father were alive, he would support Trump due to his conservative views and policies.
In response, the official Evangelicals for Harris account replied to Graham’s post with “Praying for you” and a heart emoji, later accusing Graham of abandoning the Gospel in favor of supporting Trump.
At the Republican National Convention, Graham expressed gratitude for Trump’s presidency and prayed for his safety after an attempted assassination. He also invoked a prayer for America’s restoration.
