TOM EMMER’S NOMINATION COLLAPSES AS REPUBLICANS EYE NEXT STEPS

Tom Emmer won the Speaker of the House election with 117 votes, defeating Mike Johnson. However, Emmer faced opposition from multiple sources, including 26 Republicans and criticism from President Trump on social media. Eventually, Emmer withdrew and alternative candidates were considered.
