A group of apparent Hamas sympathizers held a demonstration in the rotunda of the Cannon House Office Building to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. Demonstrations of any size are prohibited inside congressional buildings, according to the United States Capitol Police.
The group refused to leave and were asked to disperse by the Capitol Police, who arrested three individuals for assaulting officers. The demonstration occurred as Democrats in Congress continue to push for a ceasefire in Israel’s counterterrorism operations in Gaza.
Another group advocating for a ceasefire was also present outside the House office buildings.
