Albert the Great is renowned not only as the patron saint of scientists but also as a Doctor of the Church. Born in Germany, he became a member of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) in the 13th century. He received his doctorate from the University of Paris and went on to teach theology in Cologne, Germany, and at the University of Paris.
Albert’s incredible intellectual abilities earned him the title “Great.” A gifted philosopher, scientist, theologian, and teacher, he was also highly knowledgeable in Arabic culture. One of his students was Thomas Aquinas, who later became a close friend and continued to develop Albert’s Scholastic method.
