President Biden’s speech to the nation on Wednesday, in which he announced his decision to bow out of the 2024 presidential election and throw his support behind Vice President Harris, who is now the presumptive Democratic nominee. Biden cited his desire to pass the torch to a new generation and allow fresh voices and perspectives to take the lead. He also discussed his plans for the remainder of his time in office, including pushing for Supreme Court reforms.

Biden’s decision to drop out was met with widespread support from Democrats and criticism from Republicans, with some calling on him to resign from office due to his declining health and fitness for duty. Trump responded to Biden’s speech on Truth Social, calling it “was barely understandable, and sooo bad!”

Biden’s announcement was met with a mix of emotions from his family members, with some reportedly tearing up and hugging him after the speech. The President’s health has been a topic of concern in recent months, with some questioning his mental acuity after a botched debate performance in June.
