Catholics and other Christians expressed strong disapproval of the Paris Olympics’ opening ceremony, which featured a parody of Jesus Christ’s Last Supper with provocatively dressed drag queens.

The Catholic Bishop Robert Barron criticized the ceremony on social media, questioning if a similar mockery would be made of Islam.

The tableau included drag artists representing different cultures, a nearly naked blue man as Dionysus, and a woman with a silver halo.

The creative director, Thomas Jolly, clarified that the performance aimed to convey a message of love and inclusion, not division.

The French Catholic Church’s conference of bishops and the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova also condemned the ceremony.

John Yep from Catholics for Catholics highlighted the need for Christians to speak up and defend their faith in the face of such incidents, referring to a similar situation at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles involving an anti-Catholic drag queen group.

Concerns were raised about the impact of such performances on children and democracy, emphasizing the importance of taking action to address such issues.
