Senator Josh Hawley, a Republican from Missouri, made an appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Monday night and shared new revelations concerning the assassination attempt on former President Trump last month.
During the show, Hawley informed host Jesse Watters that he had conversed with whistleblowers who disclosed details about the lead site agent from the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) at the Butler, Pennsylvania rally on July 13.
At the event, a gunman named Thomas Matthew Crooks shot Trump from a sloped roof, hitting him in the ear and tragically resulting in the death of one attendee. The 20-year-old had also injured two others before being neutralized by Secret Service agents.
This incident has prompted both Republicans and Democrats to closely examine the Secret Service in recent weeks. Hawley stated on “Jesse Watters Primetime” that the lead site agent was perceived as inexperienced and “incompetent.”
Hawley expressed, “The lead agent at the site was identified by the Trump campaign as lacking experience, being ineffective, and frankly, incompetent in their role. I’ve been informed by whistleblowers that on that day, she did not adhere to standard security procedures.”
“She did not verify people’s IDs and did not utilize Secret Service agents,” Hawley continued. “On that day, the majority of the agents present were not from the Secret Service but from Homeland Security.”
The senator from Missouri also declared that some Secret Service agents are dissatisfied with how the agency managed the shooting incident.
Hawley remarked, “Concerned whistleblowers within the Secret Service are speaking out because they are appalled by the leadership’s actions. They are incredulous that the Secret Service is not taking steps to address the issues.”
“They are genuinely fearful that a similar incident may occur again. We must prevent its recurrence and uncover the truth,” Hawley emphasized.
Following the interview, Hawley posted on social media about a forceful letter he had sent to Secret Service acting director Ronald L. Rowe on Monday. In the letter, Hawley demanded an explanation as to why the lead site agent was assigned to the rally and why specific protocols were not observed.
“I implore you to immediately suspend the lead site agent from all Secret Service duties pending an investigation into these allegations,” Hawley wrote.
Fox News Digital contacted the Secret Service for a response, but no immediate reply was received.
