“Happy Birthday Mary” – President Trump

Articles | September 8, 2024 | by Catholics for Catholics

On Sunday September 8th Catholics around the Country woke up to a surprise. Arguably the most famous person in the world publicly acknowledged the Mother of God.

President Donald Trump wrote “Happy Birthday Mary” on social media with a picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe. September 8th is a date which for centuries Catholics have venerated as the day according to tradition that Mary the mother of Jesus was born.

Trump is not even Catholic so those words caught many by surprise. Now, we won’t read too much into it; after all it’s just a social media post. But then again, it’s a social media post coming from one of the most famous people in the world.

Yes, we already know quite well, that some of the recent statements on pro-life stances from the former President have caused sadness and righteous consternation among Catholics. It is cause for concern but also a call to double our prayers for him.

I will say however that when Mary is brought into the picture, even with a little social media post, miracles can happen. Speaking of pro-life, did you catch what image he posted? Our Lady of Guadalupe; the image where she appears as PREGNANT and wearing the traditional clothes of a PREGNANT woman.

Prayer directed to Our Lady as INTERESSOR and MEDIATRIX before her Son from whom all graces flow is a powerful weapon. This prayer is best seen in the recitation of the Holy Rosary where we mediate with Mary upon the mysteries of the life of Jesus Christ using the Scriptures.

We are in a crucial time for America. Let’s do what people like George Washington did in crucial times. They knelt in prayer. They worked as if it all depended on us and prayed as if it all depended on God.

To close, I agree you Mr. President, “Happy Birthday Mary!”

God Bless and Fight On!
