For the second time in as many months, the world’s biggest threat to democracy has been the target of an assassination attempt. For what it is worth, the investigation into the first assassination attempt on President Trump has not been transparent and as far as the public knows, it has not been progressing. In the absence of information, an educated populace, deserving of the truth, and intellectually curious is left to their imagination, media, and at times, conspiracy theory to fill in the blanks. Of course, if the ongoing process was transparent, it would eliminate the tendency of people to speculate.
Not much is certain about the motives, training, equipment, and planning that went into the attempts to murder the former president. There may have been a connection between the two shooters. Internet reports suggest that one sent money to the other, but law enforcement has not announced if this is true, and if so, why. More is known about the second would-be assassin, and at the time of this writing, he is alive and in custody in Ron DeSantis’ Florida. This shooter is an advocate of the Ukraine war. His social media posts are pro-Ukraine, and he declares himself a combatant and a recruiter in the war effort. Interestingly enough, he appears to have been cast in a commercial for BlackRock. BlackRock is a multi-faceted company offering financial services and investment portfolios, but with a foot in the world of mercenary work and military contractors. It is a company worth a whopping amount of money.
Enough conspiracy theory. But with this background, it might be worth asking a few questions. Chief among them: Why has Trump been targeted, not just for political ruin, but for assassination? Imagine the possible reasons why so many people might have called for Trump’s elimination on social media and in the legacy press.
The first possibility is legit. Trump has been demonized to no end in the media for the last eight years. Threat to democracy, convicted felon, serial rapist, Putin’s puppet, puppy kicker and all-around bad hombre. The possibility of this language radicalizing listeners has been written about in this space before, and is as true today as it was immediately after the first attempt on his life.
The other possibility is that Trump’s political foes, if this is indeed a conspiracy, have something to gain by Trump’s demise and/or something to lose by the re-ascendance of MAGA.
There are dozens of different theories which could be true, or not. There is the threat that Trump is ready to expose Epstein’s list of powerful people with fetishes. Trump has also expressed an openness to finally disclose and declassify the John F. Kennedy files. These are legitimate possibilities and one can imagine why Jeffrey Epstein’s clients and the deep state might stop at nothing to quash the release of those reports.
Apart from those ideas, the motivation may certainly be more jejune. It may have nothing to do with JFK, Elvis, or Aliens. And, if true, it gives voters the opportunity to evaluate what is important to them, and to determine which political movement preserves that which is beneficial for this generation and several to follow. Recent events have forged new alliances. Consider:
Was the covid response an exercise in liberty? The middle and underclasses dutifully got vaccinated, were laid off of work, told they were of inessential employment, wore ineffective masks, kept their children home from school, were barred from churches and turned away from their loved ones dying in the hospital. Meanwhile, stories were not uncommon showing upper class elites and politicians in their second or third homes, going to dinner at restaurants, or enjoying the salon. But those trivial examples pale in comparison to questions at hand. Did the government become stronger and more concentrated or more dispersed? Do Americans live in more liberty today or less? Will that lost liberty ever be surrendered by governments? In 2023, the global pharmaceutical market was estimated to be worth around $1.6 trillion, which is an increase of over $100 billion from 2022. The top ten pharmaceutical companies in 2023 had total earnings of $559.5 billion. And cui bono, who benefitted from that?
With the new alignment of political parties, who stands for middle America? Bush Republicans are gone, and it is doubtful that the MAGA movement will ever allow them back in control. So is the Democrat Party of JFK. Kamala and the Donald are replaceable. When Biden stepped aside Kamala stepped right in. New boss, same as the old boss. When Trump eventually goes away it will be someone else, Vance, Ramaswamy, DeSantis, or someone yet unknown who carries the mantle. For those who don’t like Trump, don’t get caught up on him. He is just a vessel. What the parties stand for is what is important. Who best represents the interests of real people? Does middle America want Robert F. Kennedy Jr advising the next president on matters of health, or Anthony Fauci? On the war in Ukraine, who stands with the middle Americans paying the bills or, God forbid, sacrificing their sons – Tulsi Gabbard or warmongers Bill Krystol, John Bolton, and Dick Cheney?
Are the FBI and CIA compromised? Do they continue to infiltrate Catholics in traditional communities? Which movement moves the ball toward $2 gas, milk and eggs? Which movement is leading us toward conflict in Europe, or put another way, which party bosses profit from war? Who will close the border and end the reign of violent criminals preying on the homes and streets of Springfield, OH, in Aurora, Colorado and in El Paso, Texas?
These are the questions that the emergence of the MAGA movement allows to be asked. In a world without its success and cultivation, the left and right are reflections of each other. The differences between Mitt Romney and Tucker Carlson are greater than the differences between Romney and Barack Obama.
Paraphrasing the ever-eloquent Russell Brand, “Who advocates for more war? Who bathes in the power of the state? Which party deifies, and is deified by, celebrities and who condemns ordinary people?” The prospect of losing power, influence, and wealth is what is driving the left into fits of insanity. This kind of madness needs to be rooted out like a weed. The new alliances threaten a lot. And to those in power now, or those unknown bureaucratic cogs doing their bidding, keeping the yoke of ignorance and oppression on Americans is vastly more important, and profitable, than we know.
