The Vatican cracks down on Traditional Latin Mass in Tyler, Texas

Articles | November 10, 2024 | by Catholics for Catholics

American journalist in Rome, Diane Montagna, tweeted on her X account an official letter from the Diocese of Tyler, Texas, announcing the new restrictions against the Latin Mass.

“The Vatican cracks down on Traditional Latin Mass in Tyler, Texas, one year after Bishop Strickland’s removal. Dicastery for Divine Worship informs current apostolic administrator that celebrations according to the 1962 Missal at the Cathedral will end as of Nov 30th. I have been reliably informed that, under the Dicastery for Divine Worship’s direction, 5 TLM apostolates in the diocese of Tyler are actually being cancelled. All priests were informed that the Vetus Ordo will be authorized only at the FSSP Parish of St. Joseph the Worker.” Diane Montagna

While recent surveys reveal that the vast majority of young U.S. Catholic priests are very traditional and that the average age of people attending TLM is 27 year old, Rome seems to ignore this flourishing trend in Catholicism and instead continues with the suppression of the Traditional Latin Mass. Now is the turn for Tyler, TX…Let us, pray for our Church Leaders.
