President Donald Trump is warning Israel not to conduct strikes against Iran, according to Newsmax. The President told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to abstain from striking Iran, in order to give the American administration some time to negotiate a nuclear agreement with that country.
“I told him this would be inappropriate to do right now because we’re very close to a solution,” Trump told reporters at the White House, according to Newsmax.
Meanwhile, Rafael Mariano Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nation’s atomic watchdog, said that “the jury is still out” on negotiations over the fast-growing nuclear program of Tehran between the U.S. and Iran. Nevertheless, he said the fact that the negotiations are still ongoing is a good sign.
Grossi said he was almost in daily exchanges with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghahchi. In addition, he has been in conversations with Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Middle East envoy.
“For the moment, the jury is still out,” Grossi said to journalists who were attending a seminar of the agency in Vienna. “We don’t know whether there’s going to be an agreement or not.”
Still, Grossi said he was hopeful. “I think that is an indication of a willingness to come to an agreement. And I think that, in and by itself, is something possible,” Grossi said.
