The President had a long conversation with Putin, but he foresees that the war will continue.

There is no giving peace a chance. For now.
After conversing with Russian President Vladimir Putin for over an hour over the phone about the Russia-Ukraine war, President Donald Trump said that he did not foresee a near peace coming out of it.
“We discussed the attack on Russia’s docked airplanes, by Ukraine, and also various other attacks that have been taking place by both sides,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, according to The Epoch Times. “It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate peace.”
Putin told Trump that his forces will “have to respond to the recent attack” that drones from Ukraine inflicted on Russian airfields during the past weekend.
In an unexpected attack, Ukraine sent a massive drone assault on Russian bases which caught Putin’s forces off guard. Some of the bases, which have bombers with nuclear weapon capabilities, were as far as Siberia, according to The Epoch Times.
“In total, 117 drones were used in the operation with a corresponding number of drone operators involved,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to The Epoch Times he added that 34 percent “of the strategic cruise missile carriers stationed at air bases were hit,” referring to nuclear-capable bombers.
Zelenskyy praised the attack, hailing it as a “brilliant operation” that took “a year and half” of planning.
In addition, Trump added in a post that he also spoke with Putin regarding Iran’s nuclear weapons program, telling him that “time is running out” to make a deal.
