After weeks of discussions, President Donald Trump on April 20 asserted that Israel did not force him to launch the war with Iran.
“Israel never talked me into the war with Iran,” he wrote on Truth Social.
Instead, Trump said that it was the aftermath of the Oct. 7, 2003, attacks on Israel by the Hamas terrorist group that added to his “lifelong opinion that IRAN CAN NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON.”
In addition, the President blasted the media and opinion polls and suggested that much of “what they say are lies and made-up stories.”
Later in his post, Trump said Iranian regime officials should come to an agreement with the United States to have a “great and prosperous future.”
But Catholics for Catholics President John Yep said Monday that prior comments made by the Secretary of State and the Speaker of the House after classified hearings early in the War said the exact opposite.
“In a moment of transparency they said the obvious. Israel forced our hand, Yep wrote on X. “The 1948 State of Israel, a government that openly mocks Christians, has a stranglehold on America and we are paying for it with our money and blood.”

Yep went on , quoting Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State: “We knew that there was going to be an Israeli action. We knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces,” Rubio said. “And we knew that if we didn’t preemptively go after them … we would suffer higher casualties.”
“Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said after a classified briefing that Israel was “determined to act … with or without American support,” Yep said. “And that U.S. officials concluded “a coordinated response was necessary.”’
Since the war started on Feb. 28, the U.S. and Israeli militaries, in a joint operation, have launched several strikes on Iranian targets, killing dozens of top officials in the country, including former Iranian leader Ali Khamenei. Some Democratic lawmakers and online political pundits have asserted that Israeli officials have dragged the United States into another conflict in the Middle East.
