The Trump administration will pass on control of the Kennedy Center to Congress, after a judge ordered the deletion of Trump’s name from the landmark Washington venue and stifled his plans to close it for renovations, according to a story by Newsmax.
Trump said on social media that he instructed the U.S. Commerce Department to “make all necessary arrangements with Congress to allow a full and complete transfer of this Institution” and provide lawmakers responsibility over its operation, maintenance and management.
On Friday, U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper bade the removal of President Donald Trump’s name from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, ruling that the iconic Washington venue cannot have a name change without an act of Congress.
Judge Cooper in Washington commanded the Trump administration to remove all physical indications that carry his name and to eradicate any references to a “Trump Kennedy Center” from official materials within 14 days.
