Pam Bondi, who served as the Attorney General for President Trump until early April, told CNN that she has been recovering from treatment for thyroid cancer. She was diagnosed shortly after being fired from her role with the Department of Justice and began treatment soon thereafter.
The treatment is ongoing, but she did have surgery a few weeks ago, she said. Overall, she says she is “doing well.”
Bondi is scheduled to testify this Friday in front of the House Oversight Committee on matters related to Jeffrey Epstein. Bondi has faced criticism from both sides of the aisle for her handling of the Epstein files.
When she was removed from her role, President Trump announced that she would be transitioning to a role in the private sector. Apparently, she will be serving as a liaison on President Trump’s Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) which was created by executive order and is headed byDavid Sacks and Michael Kratsios, both individual advisors to the White House. Members of the council include figures like Mark Zuckerberg and Larry Ellison.
Recently, several of President Trump’s close associates have revealed that they have various forms of cancer.
Tulsi Gabbard stepped down from her role as Director of National Intelligence last week to help her husband as he deals with a rare form of bone cancer. Vanessa Trump, ex-wife of Donald Trump, Jr., announced she has breast cancer. White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles revealed she also has breast cancer.
