Inmates in some of California’s most notorious prisons may be updating their technology skills by using free, taxpayer paid tablets. But some could also be having access to pornography and even sexually grooming minors, according to an investigative opinion piece published by the New York Post.
Governor Gavin Newsom’s $189 million initiative to update California’s correctional system has come under fire after a shocking probe revealed that taxpayer-funded digital tablets are being used by death row inmates to access pornography and groom minors, according to a story by the Daily Wire.
The Newsom administration touted the distribution of free tablets to every inmate in the state as a step toward “digital equity” and “rehabilitation,” yet serial killers and rapists inside the system say the devices have actually become personal sex machines.
Created to provide “justice-impacted” individuals with access to educational content and family contact, the program has allegedly been hijacked by the state’s most treacherous offenders. An ominous pattern of lurid behavior has emerged, ranging from the exchange of lewd photos to live pornographic video chats, according to interviews with dozens of death row inmates,
But Gov. Newsom’s office refuted the allegations, saying, “This is flat-out FALSE. This MAGA nonprofit provides ZERO evidence for its outrageous claims. Their ‘sources’? Convicted murderers and a random guy who doesn’t even live in California.”
The governor’s office claimed that “prison tablets DO NOT provide open internet access,” adding that the devices “are monitored, recorded, searchable, and investigated.”
Among those allegedly using the technology is Robert Maury, the notorious “Tipster Killer” who was convicted of raping and strangling multiple women. Another supposed user is Samuel Amador, a condemned serial killer who admitted to watching pornography on a state issued device, while Nathaniel Ray Diaz, a convicted child predator used his tablet to exploit a 12-year-old girl.
