Republican gubernatorial candidate James Fishback, a Catholic, has vowed to close all abortion clinics in Florida if elected governor and to replace them with crisis pregnancy centers.
“Ron DeSantis is the most pro-life Governor in America, and I intend to build on his incredible work,” Fishback said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “As Governor, I will shut down the 53 abortion clinics that remain in Florida and replace every single one with a crisis pregnancy center.”
“These centers will offer free ultrasounds, baby food, diapers, and counseling, and even prenatal and postpartum care,” he continued. “Abortion is never the answer. Every expecting mom in Florida deserves real support, and as Governor, I will make sure she gets it.”
John Yep, president of Catholics for Catholics, weighed in on Fishback’s promise. “As a society, we have gotten used to having these killing centers in the midst of our neighborhoods and cities,” Yep said. “It is time to put an end to this stain on our society, and it is great that candidates like James Fishback are promising to do this. We need to support mothers who are experiencing difficult circumstances in a pregnancy, but we cannot lower the bar. God’s commandment is to respect all life: ‘Thou shalt not kill.’”

Fishback is facing US Rep. Byron Donalds at the primary election on August 18.
On June 2nd, Fishback also shared that he and his wife, who were recently married in a Catholic Mass, officially consecrated the campaign to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, quoting Ephesians 6:11 in his post.
Recent data show Fishback’s odds of winning in an upward swing against his opponent, with one TPSI poll of likely voters placing him just three points behind Donalds.
