In Pennsylvania, the York Revolution team of the Atlantic Pro Baseball (ALPB) league forfeited a game last Thursday night because their own players did not want to wear the “Pride” themed jersey to support the Pride Night being hosted by the club that day.
Rather than supporting its own players, the club issued a shaming statement: “It is with great disappointment and that the York Revolution have issued important changes to our 11th Annual Pride Night on Thursday, June 18th…Unfortunately, several of our players have refused to wear the scheduled Pride Night jersey and the club decided that hosting the event is more important than forcing players to wear jerseys they are not comfortable with and playing the game.”
The Revolution decided to host Pride Night anyways, absent a game, and made a $10,000 donation to the nearby Rainbow Rose Center, an “LGBTQIA+” organization.
“To be clear; this action by the players is completely inconsistent with our vision as the Most Welcoming Place in York,” the Revolution’s statement added.

York Revolution players refused the rainbow jerseys for Pride Night — so the team forfeited the game rather than let them play in normal uniforms.

Last week, the MLB (Major League Baseball) scolded several of the San Francisco Giants’ players for writing Bible verses on their pride-themed hats, as Catholics for Catholics previously reported.
A spokesperson for the MLB later clarified that the content of the messages on the hats were not the issue, but that players were not allowed to modify their caps.
Jeremy Samek of the Pennsylvania Family Institute told local news that the players “should be commended for standing up for what they believe in” and that “the ownership should really be ashamed” of their handling of the situation.
