When it comes to Iran, keep the pressure on, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told President Donald Trump.
During a White House meeting Tuesday, Netanyahu urged Trump to keep all-out pressure on Iran, contending the regime is improbable to agree to a fruitful nuclear deal, according to an Israeli official cited by Axios.
The meeting, the first between the two leaders since the war with Iran began Feb. 28, came as the Trump administration weighs whether to continue the diplomatic way or resume major military operations against Tehran, according to a story by Newsmax.
Iran launched a missile attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan — its first since Trump paused U.S. strikes last week, just hours after the talks between Trump and Netanyahu. Trump responded Wednesday by promising a strong response, fueling expectations the conflict could intensify.
Trump is considering three courses of action: achieving a deal with Iran, keeping the U.S.-led naval blockade while ramping up economic pressure, or restarting and expanding military strikes.

“We discussed all of those options at length and very candidly,” the Israeli official said. “Not as an attempt to promote one option over another, but to examine what the best outcome would be from each. That’s what the conversation was about.”
The Israeli official told Axios that Netanyahu remains unconvinced Tehran will leave its nuclear objectives despite ongoing deals led by U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Netanyahu made the case that Iran is attempting to use the Strait of Hormuz to pressure the United States into making compromises and pressed Trump to keep tightening the economic squeeze.
“We discussed increasing the economic pressure through both kinetic and non-kinetic means,” the Israeli official said. “We talked about the possibility of continuing the blockade in order to pressure Iran.”
