Shawn Ryan & Candace Owens Discuss Catholic Politicians & Freemasonry’s Anti-Catholic History

Shawn Ryan’s interview with fellow podcaster Candace Owens has attained over 3.7 million views in just three days. The almost five-hour interview covered a wide range of topics, including Owens’ upbringing and entry into politics, the investigation into Charlie Kirk’s death, Israeli influence in the United States, and more, including discussions of Catholicism.

Shawn Ryan is a former Navy SEAL and CIA contractor, and he launched his podcast, The Shawn Ryan Show, in 2019. Ryan grew up Catholic and has hosted notable Catholic figures including Fr. Chad Ripperger, Fr. Dan Reehill, and Fr. Stephen Gadberry.

Ryan introduced Owens at the beginning of the episode as “most importantly” a Catholic, which Owens confirmed. “Most importantly, I am a Catholic, a mother, a wife,” she replied.

The two discussed potential GOP presidential nominees for 2028, and questioned whether Vice President JD Vance would be able to escape the ramifications of the Iran war in order to secure the nomination.

“I don’t see how Vance gets around what happened in Iran. I don’t see how Vance is able to talk his way out of that,” Owens stated.

“Well I’m going to tell you how: all these ‘Catholics’ are really leaning into being ‘Catholic’ right now because it’s the fastest growing Christian denomination in the world,” Ryans replied dryly.

Discussing the controversial social media posts from President Trump directed at Pope Leo XIV, Owens said, “Catholics are tough; they’re the one group that has not been socially engineered.”

“They’re really trying to tap into it,” Ryans reiterated, referencing politicians leaning into the Catholic identity. “I don’t think it’s going to work,” Owens replied.

Towards the end of the interview, Owens brought up freemasonry and its historical impact on events around the world. “It’s always been a war against the Catholic Church,” she said. “They’re all explicit in their hatred of the Catholic Church, which is very compelling to me.”

“Why do you think [the freemasons] are against the Catholics so much?” Ryans asked. “Because the Catholics were calling them what they were: Satanists,” she replied, noting that they have attempted to rewrite history and that Queen Isabella of Spain “should be sainted.”

“Everything you’ve learned about Catholicism and the history of Catholicism is just crap in school.  And there’s a reason for that, because America was designed to be anti-Catholic, to be anti-orthodox. And the reason is because Catholics hold the history. They know what [the freemasons] were doing on that continent,” referring to their role in monumental and even deadly historical events in Europe like the French Revolution.

Touching on her personal conversion story, Owens told Ryan about her husband’s conversion. Her husband, George Farmer, grew up in England and majored in theology at Oxford. During his final year of school, he decided to convert to Catholicism. After they had their first child together years later, George was being pulled deeper into the faith and Owens sought to understand it.

“And it was sort of this perfect storm of where I was at politically, reading about Sigmund Freud and his deep hatred for the Catholic Church – I mean, deep hatred for the Catholic Church – and basically creating modern psychology as a way to counter the Catholic Church to replace the priests with therapists,” she said.

“And I was going, ‘Wow, every time I read a book, it somehow is telling me that the Freemasons were very anti-Catholic and I’m not looking for it.’”
