In early July, President Trump attended the NATO Summit in Turkey. While he was publicly scheduled to depart the event on July 8, details from an explosive report that emerged this week reveal that he was secretly shuttled into a catering truck and onto a different plane, leaving Air Force One as a decoy, because of an alleged Iranian missile plot.
While Trump was in Ankara, the Israeli government relayed an assassination plot to the CIA – but the CIA had sincere doubts about the legitimacy of this claim.
Reportedly, they communicated this skepticism to officials in the Trump administration. Nevertheless, the president was secretly maneuvered into an airport catering truck which shuttled him and a few aides to a different plane that flew to Britain, escorted by two F-16 fighter jets.
Apparently, many senior administration officials were left on Air Force One and did not realize the president was on a different aircraft. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was briefed on the intelligence, but decided to board Air Force One anyway.
Some intelligence officials, according to the report, believe the alleged assassination plot was a ploy by the Israeli government to influence Trump’s policy decisions.
“The story of Trump secretly switching airplanes is actually a great example of how we got into the war with Iran,” Joe Kent, who resigned from his post as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center in protest of the Iranian war, wrote on X. He then quoted the report’s language describing the plot as “‘Israeli-derived, not U.S.-generated, and viewed as low confidence’ by our own intelligence agencies.”
Allegedly, there have been three separate Iranian assassination plots targeting President Trump in the past two years. The war with Iran is going on six months, with 18 American servicemembers killed since February 28.
