Former ABC correspondent says Fauci unduly influenced the network in its coverage of the origins of the COVID pandemic.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul blasted Dr. Anthony Fauci for allegedly interfering with ABC News’ COVID coverage.
Both Republicans lambasted Fauci and ABC over former network correspondent Terry Moran’s narrative that a 2021 report scrutinizing the likelihood that COVID-19 started in a laboratory was drastically altered before airing, according to a story by Newsmax.
Last week, Moran told “The Fifth Column” podcast that his probe included interviews with molecular virologists and former Trump administration officials and inspected evidence surrounding the Wuhan laboratory.
But on the day the segment was scheduled to air, Moran said it came back from review virtually unrecognizable.
“And it comes back to me and it is incomprehensible,” Moran said.
When asked who had reviewed it, Moran responded: “Lawyers, standards, and — I was told — Fauci.”

Still, Moran emphasized that he did not personally know whether ABC sent the script to Fauci, asserting only that he had been told Fauci was involved in the review.
Moran’s comments drew blasts from Paul, a longtime Fauci critic who has repeatedly clashed with the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases over the government’s handling of the pandemic.
“The former Senior National Correspondent of ABC News recently admitted the network’s editorial independence took a back seat to the Anthony Fauci-led cover-up,” Paul wrote Saturday on X.
“What a pathetic indictment of ABC News,” the Florida governor posted on X. “Letting Fauci of all people dictate coverage.”
