Surrounded by a group of “medical professionals” and other women, Governor Maura Healey of Massachusetts signed a bill allowing abortions until birth on Monday.
Healey, despite publicly proclaiming her Catholic faith, lives with a woman who is her domestic partner and is known as “first partner” of the governor. Governor Healey also traveled to speak at the Vatican Climate Summit in 2024 and met with Pope Francis.
“Abortion will remain safe. It will remain legal, and it will remain accessible here in Massachusetts. That’s my commitment to you,” Healey said when signing the bill, which will take effect approximately three months from now.
Archbishop Richard G. Henning presides over the Archdiocese of Boston. On August 3, he along with the Massachusetts Catholic Conference issued a joint statement strongly condemning the legislation.

“As Catholic bishops we have a moral responsibility to present and uphold Catholic teaching and the sacred God-given dignity of every human life from conception to the natural death,” the statement reads. “The proposed elimination of any legal restraint on late-term abortion is, in our judgement, a radical measure which is gravely immoral.”
Catholics throughout the country are wondering whether this heretical act will result in Governor Healey’s excommunication from the Church.
Users on Instagram responded with horror to the announcement of the law by Fox News.
“Demons celebrate with them,” one user wrote.
“Absolutely disgusting. God bless and watch over these innocent babies 🙏🙏🙏,” another user joined in.
