The nation’s support for the U.S. military war against Iran is waning, according to a Quinnipiac University poll.

Released Wednesday, the poll found 60% of registered voters are against U.S. military action against Iran, while 34% are for it, denoting the lowest level of advocacy and highest level of disapproval since Quinnipiac began tracking the question shortly after Trump launched Operation Epic Fury in late February, according to a story by Newsmax.

The poll came as President Donald Trump called for more strikes against Iran, after Tehran’s attempted ballistic missile attack on U.S. forces in Jordan.

The White House countered against the poll, saying Trump is concentrating on national security decisions rather than moving public opinion.

“What matters most to the American people is having a commander in chief who takes bold action to keep them safe, which is exactly what President Trump is doing,” the White House told Newsweek.

In addition, the administration said Trump would not stand by while Iran attacks U.S. troops, threatens American naval forces in the Strait of Hormuz or violates the memorandum of understanding that temporarily paused fighting earlier this year.

On Wednesday, U.S. Central Command announced a heavy wave of retaliatory strikes Wednesday night against dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets after Iran attempted to fire ballistic missiles at an American base in Jordan.

CENTCOM said all of the Iranian missiles were intercepted.
