Washington denied that Iranian forces were able to hit U.S. Navy destroyers.

As the war between Iran and the U.S. continues, on Wednesday Washington denied claims by Tehran that Iranian forces allegedly hit two American destroyers located in the Middle East, adding that no warships were struck.
Still, Iran launched ballistic missiles at a base used by U.S. forces in Jordan and attacked ships in the Strait of Hormuz as fighting with American forces intensified, according to a story by Fox News. A U.S. official told Fox News the missile attack in Jordan was “ineffective” and all American forces there are accounted for.
As for striking American destroyers, it’s simply not true, Washington says.
“This is completely FALSE,” CENTCOM said in a post on X responding to the Iranian claim.
“No U.S. Navy warship has been struck; all IRGC attempted attacks failed,” CENTCOM said.
But on Wednesday, the IRGC boasted that it attacked 10 ships — including two U.S. vessels and eight oil tankers — attempting to cross what it called a “prohibited and unsafe” area of the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reported.

CENTOM countered that American forces have obliterated 10 Iranian tankers over the past week, referring to the vessels as part of a multibillion-dollar “shadow network” used to fund the IRGC.
“Iran cannot defend them,” CENTCOM said.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio cautioned that the U.S. will keep aiming Iranian oil tankers in response to ongoing attacks on American naval ships.
