First lady Melania Trump compelled her husband’s administration to give women’s health more precedence in medical research— an initiative that concluded Oct. 19 in an executive order creating a new division at the National Institutes of Health.
On Monday, President Donald Trump created the Women’s Health Division and a White House Women’s Health Task Force directed at refurbishing the federal government’s methodology to women’s health.
According to a story by the Epoch Times, the move comes amid a flurry of meetings set up by the first lady inside the East Wing including working gatherings with physicians and other experts in the public and private sectors. She got together with officials from Health and Human Services to establish the task force with the premise that more research is needed into various aspects of women’s health, including heart disease, cancer, chronic pain, and infertility.
“For generations, women have faced unanswered questions about conditions that uniquely or disproportionately affect them,” Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said in a statement.

“This new NIH division will confront those questions with gold-standard science, accelerate research into prevention and treatment, and turn medical discoveries into better care for women and girls across America.”
Meanwhile, the White House Women’s Task Force will be chaired by Kennedy and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles. Members include War Secretary Pete Hegseth, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Erica Schwartz.
Melania Trump stressed the importance of the developments.
“This is a transformative moment for women in America,” she told those assembled. “Beginning today, we will change the reality of women’s health. Previous generations fought for women’s rights. Our generation will fight to discover the cures that will ensure a woman can live her life in health and to the fullest.”
