After days of violent riots and clashes between rioters and police, the French government said on Wednesday it was canceling the use of stun grenades in its patrolling of student demonstrations, after a 15-year-old boy’s hand was blown off during a clash with riot police, prompting protesters’ accusations of police brutality.
But protestors showed no sign of slowing down, with more than 500 schools closed a day after demonstrations swept across the country, and unions representing high-school students, teachers and other workers planning more marches for Thursday.
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump cautioned that France’s escalating riots were being driven by “out of control mass migration,” as U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Mike Waltz had similar worries and blamed unchecked immigration and broader European policy failures for helping fuel the unrest.
Asked by Fox News Digital about Trump’s comments and the scenes coming from France, Waltz condemned the violence while also linking the unrest to European immigration and economic policies.
“I think we would always condemn lawlessness, condemn the violence that we’re seeing in Paris,” Waltz told Fox News Digital. “But I think we also have to recognize that when you have open borders, when you [have] this pro-migration, unchecked immigration kind of policy, coupled with policies over the years that deny people basic energy, that overspend on all kinds of other government programs, that you see a level of frustration boiling to the surface.”

According to reports, more than a quarter of a million people took part in riots in several cities across France.
Close to Paris, a toddler was struck with a firework on Tuesday as 450,000 people swarmed the streets in violent clashes with police to join in the raging student protests against France’s failing economy.
According to a story by the New York Post, the one-year-old was close to a school in Santi-Cyr-l’Ecole, in the outskirts of Versailles, when a firework slammed into its stroller, police said. The child was rushed to the hospital and treated for tinnitus, while a high school student taking part in the protests that have rocked France was arrested, France’s RMC radio reported.
