FIGHT BACK: John Yep Shares a Catholic Patriot’s Reaction to the Devastating Midterms

Articles | November 4, 2026 | by Catholics for Catholics

The results of the 2026 Midterms were historically devastating.

We were blown away in the House, embarrassed in a handful of governor races, and lost several key ballot initiatives protecting babies in the womb and children from gender surgeries. Last but not least, the Democrats flipped at least 7 seats, virtually guaranteeing them control of the Senate for the next 6 years. Even the GOP stronghold of Texas received a gut punch, electing a Democratic Senator and Governor and losing every single statewide race.

Judging by the numbers, the main problem was not turnout. The main problem was that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026.

When addressing the reasons why we lost, Vice President JD Vance shared what a seasoned pollster reported to him as the four reasons for voters to come back to the (MAGA) team:

1.     End the War
2.     Focus on cost of living/inflation
3.     Put America First
4.     Change our relationship to Israel

Vice President JD Vance continued:

“The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you’d like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that’s at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.”

I agree with the Vice President. But the next step is to ask why we are even in this Iran War.

We are in this disaster of a war because Israel, “our greatest ally” has forced us into it. The Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, said it plainly last spring at the onset of the war: “We knew that there was going to be an Israeli action. We knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces, and we knew that if we didn’t pre-emptively go after them before they launched those attacks, we would suffer higher casualties.”

The argument that “Iran was on the verge of a nuclear weapon” is simply not rational. Americans were told by the White House that the 12-Day War in June of 2025 had set Iran’s nuclear program back a few years. Or, as one commentator put it: “Israel is celebrating 34 years of Iran being two weeks away from a nuclear weapon.”

Israel is clear on its intent to enact its ambitious “Greater Israel” project through the systematic takeover of much of the Middle East, and it can only do this with American blood and money. Americans have grown increasingly aware of this and have woken up to Israel’s stranglehold on our nation’s political leaders.

The fact that, on Election Day, President Trump was making a last-ditch effort to appeal to voters by promising he would cut the 4 billion dollars we send Israel every year underscores this point. He knows that blind support for Netanyahu’s government has been incredibly unpopular, let alone immoral.

As we go forward from this election, it is crucial to identify and name the different types of poison that threaten America. For sure, the new radical form of Islam/Marxism, personified in Mayor Mamdani of New York and newly elected Senator Abdul El-Sayed, is a serious threat. Islam is not compatible with Western Civilization or with Catholicism, and its rapid expansion in America must be stopped and opposed.

But so is the poison of Zionism, which preaches a false religious duty to the 1948 State of Israel. This political ideology has infected our country and pulled us into unjust wars, which have indirectly resulted in one of the worst midterm losses in history. Of course, opposition to Zionism is not the same as “anti-Semitism,” which is wrong. Ironically, some of the strongest opponents of Zionism are found within the Jewish community itself. We put out a thorough statement on the Catholic View on Zionism, which you can read here.

It’s important to keep speaking the truth, no matter the consequences. We are Catholics. Our allegiance transcends political parties and is directed towards Christ, our humble King.

Tuesday’s election was a blow, but we are called to be fighters. Catholics for Catholics was made for this moment in American history, and you are part of it. Never before in the history of this republic has there been a greater need for a new movement of Catholic patriots who are determined to convert this nation for Christ, and that is why we exist.

JD Vance shared those four reasons for voter discontent. While we work to bring contentment to voters, we must remember that true contentment comes from closeness to Jesus. He is the answer, the antidote to every poison threatening us today.

Catholics for Catholics has been having a historic fall season. Many of you have participated in some of our six recent events we helped put on in our efforts to help save America. From the Fulton Sheen event in September to the 2nd Annual Retreat for Priests in Champion, WI, to the Rosary Rally of Reparation at the Men’s Pro-Life March in Boston, and finally to our several Catholic Champion Crusades on university campuses, we have been busy. We are a small team, but we have hustle, and we love doing it for Christ and Country.

Your support makes all that possible, and I can’t thank you enough. As we regroup from yesterday’s loss, let’s hit the pew of our nearest Catholic Church to adore and spend time with Our Lord and His Mother. They will renew our hearts as we fight the battles ahead.

God Bless You and Fight On,

John Yep
