On Saturday, Donald Trump had a talk with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about Iran, as the President considered returning to a full-scale war following the midterm elections on Tuesday.
“Just had a very good talk with him; we had a very good talk,” Trump told reporters Sunday. He confirmed they discussed Iran but gave no further details.
Trump made those comments during a rally in Iowa on Sunday, adding that “the only reason why I’m not finished with Iran is I want to be nice. I want to try and save all those lives if I can.”
“But at some point we’re going to have to give them the hammer,” he added.
According to the Epoch Times, the conversation between Trump and Netanyahu came as the United States and Iran continued incidental diplomatic talks in Qatar over the weekend, with dealings taking place against the backdrop of the Nov. 3 U.S. midterm elections and the finalization of Israel’s election results.

Talking to journalists, Trump said negotiations with Iran were “going fine” and stressed that he was not “in much of a hurry” to reach an agreement.
Trump added that the United States still had to address one or two Iranian nuclear sites, including the suspected underground facility at Pickaxe Mountain.
Still, high-ranking Israeli security and political officials told Epoch Magazine Israel that Tel Aviv is making preparations for the chance of a lengthy war with Iran after the U.S. midterm elections. According to the officials, military planners believe that fighting could pick up where it left off between the Nov. 3 elections and the swearing-in of the new U.S. Congress on Jan. 3, 2027.
