A resolution to be introduced by Georgia Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene calls for the FBI Director to be impeached. The resolution alleges that the FBI has targeted pro-lifers and Latin Mass Catholics under Director Christopher Wray’s watch. The resolution would force Democrats to vote on the appropriateness of using the federal government to target conservative American citizens.
“Under Wray’s watch, the FBI has intimidated, harassed, and entrapped American citizens, … [and] has turned the FBI into Joe Biden and Merrick Garland’s personal police force,” the resolution states, first acquired by The Daily Caller.
Based on a FoxNews report, “The FBI targeted pro-life groups, Catholics, and parents attending school board meetings with investigations in an effort to “inflate” the sense that they were a domestic terrorism threat, according to new whistleblower reports.”
Where are the Shepherds? Where are the Bishops to stand up and defend us? It was the pastors of the 1700s that rose up to motivate the colonists to wake up to the tyranny that crushed them as the King of England stomped upon their natural rights. It was their courage from the pulpits that set into motion the greatest country the world has ever known.
250 years later, this new government has sanctioned spying on the largest religious denomination in America. I wonder what Charles Carroll, a Catholic signer of the Declaration of Independence, would have thought knowing that soon the new government he was staking his life on would one day persecute his own religion.
But alas, there is hope! For a while, the Catholic Bishops are, for the most part, nowhere to be found as their flocks are being targeted; other courageous Americans are standing in the breach to defend us, like Congresswoman Greene, Congressman Jordan, or Senator Josh Hawley. That is the American way. The American doesn’t care what color or creed you are but will shed his or her blood or stand up for your rights.
“Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered,” said our Lord. I wonder if Our Lord meant that the Bishops would strike themselves for since none of them are being targeted they are AWOL and absent from the field where their sheep are fighting.
Catholics for Catholics is absolutely unafraid to step up and defend our fellow Catholics from unjust persecution. And while we respect the office of the shepherd, the Bishop, we will boldly stand up to challenge them to greater moral courage as so many Catholic saints like St Catherine of Siena have done in times past.
