President Donald Trump’s potential return to Twitter/X was cheered by his supporters, and it immediately got the attention of everyone. Once again, Trump shows his uncanny ability to directly communicate with all Americans.

For his first tweet in nearly two-and-a-half years, Trump shared a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the photo of his Fulton County, Georgia mugshot with the caption, “ELECTION INTERFERENCE / NEVER SURRENDER!” and a link to his website.
As of Friday morning, his post had been reposted more than 330 thousand times and had 120 million impressions.
The former president has been banned from Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms after the incident at the Capitol on Jan. 6. He launched his platform, Truth Social, in response to these unlawful and politically fueled acts against him and his followers.
Trump’s return to X/Twitter could be significantly beneficial to the platform, as he has nearly 90 million followers on X, far more than he has on Truth Social.
It is said that Truth Social is “hemorrhaging money and is by any objective account a failed endeavor.” Trump however stands by his decision and said he would never return to Twitter.
Musk commented on Trump’s post with the simple phrase, “Next-level.”
Musk has been critical of mainstream media outlets in the past and has said that he believes that AI could be used to counteract misinformation online. Musk also said he would welcome Trump’s return to X.
Some experts believe that social media should be regulated to prevent the spread of misinformation and dangerous conspiracy theories. However, others argue that this could lead to censorship and the suppression of free speech.
Regardless of the outcome, it is clear that Donald Trump has everyone’s attention with one direct message. Social media has empowered individuals to communicate with each other and to express their opinions. It has also allowed politicians to reach millions of listeners without intermediaries.
The issues raised by Trump’s potential return to social media and X demonstrate how technology is evolving quickly.
