Issue 1 and Ohio

Articles | August 2, 2023 | by Catholics for Catholics

Ohio is such an interesting political animal.  It has become synonymous with so many expressions of political importance.  Bellwether state.  Swing state.  Rust bowl. Voting for Trump in the last two presidential elections, Ohio has seemingly turned Red.  But next week will put that oversimplification to the test.  The next wave of political battle has come to the Buckeye State.

According to the website The Free Beacon, a bill in California would punish parents who don’t affirm their child’s gender identity.  The bill, which has already passed the State Assembly, would allow non-affirmation to be defined as abuse which could affect custody and visitation. Oregon and Washington state are currently passing laws giving teenagers, as young as 15, access, to “gender-affirming” care, such as puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and life-altering surgeries even without parental consent.  The next logical step is for these surgeries and decisions to be made by the child and their doctor.  Parents are only allowed in the room when they support or catalyze the transition.

Does the imposition of left coast values meet the approval of the lunch box, blue collar crowd in Dayton and the tool shops in Elyria?  This weekend a Rosary Rally is coming to Cincinnati to promote Ohio State Issue 1.  The Rally includes speeches by abortion convert Abby Johnson, Former National Security Advisor General Michael Flynn, and Jim Caviezel of Passion of the Christ and Sound of Freedom.  It is being organized by Catholics For Catholics, the same group who organized the prayer protest outside of Dodger Stadium.

The rally is designed to bring to light the vital importance that Ohio vote for Issue 1. This effort is very much about educating ourselves as a nation.  It is about exposing, as loudly as we possibly can, facts versus euphemisms.  The purveyors of “gender affirmation care” would prefer to never have voters know exactly what it is.  They couch their inhumane intentions behind words like “affirmation” and “honoring trans identities”.  But the reality is harsh.  It is the brutality and barbarity of child mutilation and sterilization, even when performed against the will, consent and knowledge of loving parents.  Recently, in state after state, these procedures have been outlawed wherever it is clearly explained and described to legislators.

These laws that have been put in place have terrified the pushers of this poison.  This election is about a radical group of people with an agenda, rushing to codify procedures in Ohio before people have an opportunity to educate themselves about this grotesque reality.  This special election is about protecting the children of Ohio from the stripping of musculature from wrists and thighs of little girls to create a fake phallus.  It is about protecting young girls from mastectomy and sterilization while they are at an age too young to truly consent to irreversible, life changing mutilation.  It is about young boys not having unnatural, unnecessary reconstructive surgeries.  It is about protecting the rights of parents to love and care for their children unburdened by the intrusion of the state.  Education is the key to bring it into the open, free from special interest groups with a secret and destructive agenda.  Their thirst for blood knows no bounds.
