Citius, Altius, Fortius – the Olympic motto; faster, higher, stronger. It doesn’t say anything about transgender cabaret or bearded “ladies”.
If there was any doubt that Christianity, and Catholicism specifically, was ever under assault, this should have cleared that up. The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic games was a big middle finger stuck into the eye of believers of the New Testament. To any observer of the intersection of politics and religion over the past few years, it has been pretty clear what Emmanuel Macron, Justin Trudeau, Barack Obama, Jill Biden and Kamala Harris think about traditional middle-of-the-road faithful folks. But this was them doubling down. This was the coordinated and choreographed response, four years in the making, splayed all over cable TV, of the elitist, Deep State, modernists to those who push back against Pride Month and Transgender groomers. They didn’t wave the white flag or run and hide.
The transgender family hour, that we watched last week, particularly the mockery of the Last Supper, especially cherished by Catholics as the institution of the Eucharist and the liturgical Priesthood, is proof that any vestige of Catholicism that exists in Western Europe is a remnant and may only continue to get smaller. This imagery is fitting. Their last supper is really a last meal. All analogies limp, but this is a symbolic end to the Faith in France, once called “the eldest daughter of the Church.” What began during the French Revolution, with the persecution of the Holy Mother Church had its crescendo broadcast all over the world. What Maximilien Robespierre and the French National Assembly began in the 1790s has been continued, handed off to the woke mob. Liberté, égalité, fraternité stops at the steps of Notre Dame Cathedral.
What happens now? A Bishop here and a Cardinal there are finally throwing some counter punches on the internet, but this is very little and very late. Muslims are even saying the same thing.
The conflict has been going on for a while now, and Catholic clerics have been oblivious to it, or worse. This celebration of cross dressing is very similar in concept to the demonic flare exhibited in Europe in 2016 at the christening of the Gotthard base tunnel in Switzerland.
Both were mockeries of God put forth by heads of governments, entertainers, and those who favor and feel compelled to promote overt sexualization. In the absence of any tangible pushback from our side, we are given example after example of how far the demon will militate toward absurdity.
In a particularly apropos scene of the movie Nefarious, the eponymous demon declares that our side is losing the struggle because we didn’t even know there was an ongoing battle. The enemy had to use symbolism so overt and in-our-face before we even understood that it holds us in contempt and has been mocking us for generations. To use modern and sterile language, it took a non-binary, body positivity model posing as our Lord and Savior in the Cenacle, for our side to wake up. But God will not be mocked. To the question of whether or not God is offended by actions on earth, he answered with a power outage in all of Paris, save the illuminated Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Beautiful.
This has the potential to open some eyes. Perhaps this is a bridge too far. Those disgusting images and reports of this we’ve all seen floating around may end up being the scrotum seen ‘round the world.
