An illegal immigrant who allegedly made death threats to President Donald Trump was arrested by ICE, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

According to the Washington Times, Ramon Morales-Reyes, 54, wrote a racially tinged letter promising to depart the country after he murdered the president. The man allegedly was upset over Trump’s aggressive border and deportation clampdowns.

‘“We are tired of this president messing with us Mexicans,” he wrote in neat handwritten script in the letter, which was released by Homeland Security, according to the Washington Times. “We have done more for this country than you white people — you have been deporting my family and I think it is time Donald J. Trump gets what he has coming to him.”

He said he would “self deport” but first “shoot your precious president in his head.” According to The Times, Morales-Reyes said he would take the shot at “one of his big rallies.”

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said, “thanks to our ICE officers, this illegal alien who threatened to assassinate President Trump is behind bars.”

Nome said that Morales-Reyes made the threat less than a year after a would-be assassin shot Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The shots struck him in the ear, killed one rallygoer and severely wounded two others.

The Homeland Security Secretary added that two weeks ago, “former FBI Director Comey called for the president’s assassination,” referring to James B. Comey

Noem said that members of the media should stop lambasting President Trump. Such attitude just encourages people like Morales to seek to cause harm to the President, she said.

“All politicians and members of the media should take notice of these repeated attempts on President Trump’s life and tone down their rhetoric,” she said.

The Times wrote that ICE arrested Morales-Reyes on May 22, a day after the agency received the letter.

Law enforcement officials said Morales-Reyes was an “illegal alien” and was being held under immigration detention in Wisconsin pending a deportation hearing. He has nine other illegal entries on his criminal record, from 1998 to 2005. His criminal record includes felony hit-and-run, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.
