Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, told families of the hostages held in Gaza that his country has accepted a ceasefire deal made by the Middle East envoy of President Donald Trump.
The Israeli media reported on Thursday that Steve Witkoff, the Middle East envoy of Trump, had presented the proposal, according to Newsmax.
Hamas, the Palestinian militant group, previously had said that it obtained a proposal by mediators and that it was studying the deal.
The deal came after Witkoff had said early in the week that he was optimistic about reaching an agreement to end the war in Gaza. The war has gone on for 19 months.
In addition, Witkoff said that a deal was underway to secure the release of the hostages held in Gaza by Hamas.
