President Donald Trump is giving the state of California an ultimatum: stop allowing transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports or get cut off from federal funding.
According to the New York Post, Trump said that he will order “local authorities, if necessary, to not allow a transgender athlete to participate in the state finals this weekend. Trump made the warning before a phone call with Gavin Newsom, the Democratic governor of California.
“California, under the leadership of Radical Left Democrat Gavin Newscum, continues to ILLEGALLY allow ‘MEN TO PLAY IN WOMEN’S SPORTS,’” Trump grumbled on Truth Social Tuesday. “THIS IS NOT FAIR, AND TOTALLY DEMEANING TO WOMEN AND GIRLS. Please be hereby advised that large scale Federal Funding will be held back, maybe permanently, if the Executive Order on this subject matter is not adhered to.”
According to The Post, Trump apparently was referring to AB Hernandez, a high school senior from California who was born male and became a transgender woman. He won tournaments like the women’s long jump and triple jump in a state Interscholastic Federation Southern Sections Masters Meet.
Hernandez is scheduled to compete in Fresno Saturday and Sunday for the CIF state championship. He had formerly won a triple jump competition by about three feet in March.
“As a Male, he was a less than average competitor. As a Female, this transitioned person is practically unbeatable,” Trump recapped.
