Border Patrol agents did not release a single migrant last month; a year ago under Biden they released 62,000.

All is quiet on the Southern Border.
That is what a New York Post story revealed, saying that Border Patrol agents did not release a single migrant into the United States last month – not one! – which is a stupefying drop after the Biden administration permitted 62,000 border crossers into the U.S. in May 2024.
Last month, Border Patrol officers caught 8,725 migrants crossing illegally at the southern border. The numbers show that it is a 93% decrease from May 2024, when they caught 115,905.
The main culprit for such a drastic change has been the Trump administration, according to Pete Flores, a Customs and Border Protection Commissioner. He believes that the President’s tough border changes have made all the difference.
“Under the leadership of this administration, CBP has received historic support resulting in another 93% decrease in illegal crossings along the southwest border this month when compared with last year,” Flores said in a statement shared with The Post. “Border numbers continue to trend at historic lows, reinforcing the sustained success of our enforcement efforts in securing the homeland and protecting American communities.”
“Border Patrol agents are getting closer to their goal of obtaining full “operational control” of the southern border with the enormous drop in illegal crossings,” National Border Patrol Council president Paul Perez told The Post last week.
“Under the Biden administration, our agents were pulled off the line. We were doing all the processing, detaining, transporting and essentially baby-sitting, the border was wide open,” Perez said to The Post.
“It was unsecured because we didn’t have enough agents on the line to actually protect and deter. So now we’ve got the complete opposite. All of our agents are actually patrolling the border for the first time in many, many years.”
