During the border czar over anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, California Gov. Gavin Newsom told the Trump administration: “you know where to find me.”
The Democratic governor dared border czar Tom Homan to arrest him, in the midst of a series of Los Angeles County riots, according to the Daily Wire.
The Daily Wire wrote that President Donald Trump angered California Democrats like L.A. Mayor Karen Bass and Gov. Newsom when he used the National Guard to clamp down on the riots that broke out during the weekend. Homan warned them that they would be arrested if they “crossed the line.”
“He’s a tough guy. Why doesn’t he do that? He knows where to find me,” Newsom said of Homan in an interview with MSNBC. “What the hell are they doing? These guys need to grow up,” he continued. “They need to stop, and we need to push back. And I’m sorry to be so clear, but that kind of bloviating is exhausting. So, Tom, arrest me. Let’s go,” he added.
Newsom continued: “But you know what? Let your hands off 4-year-old girls that are trying to get educated. Let your hands off these poor people. They’re just trying to live their lives, man,” Newsom added. “Trying to live their lives, paying their taxes. Been here for 10 years. The fear, the horror.”
According to news reports and The Daily Wire, Federal agents and immigration officers battled attacking rioters over the weekend. The rioters threw rocks, concrete and “commercial grade fireworks, according to Jim McDonnell, LAPD Chief.
The Chief added that officers could have been killed during the attack and at least one Customs and Border protection officer was injured when rioters attacked his vehicle with rocks.
After four straight days of riots, President Trump backed Homan to arrest Newsom, telling reporters: “I would do it if I were Tom. I think it’s great.”
