Catholics for Catholics President John Yep welcomed a federal investigation of NGO’s and Catholic groups who are under suspicion of aiding illegal migrants, misuse of government funds and possible abuse of migrant minors.

“Catholics around the country are welcoming the news that the House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green is initiating an investigation of some groups like the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and Catholic Charities,” Yep said.

“Specifically see if they participated in the facilitating and illegal invasion of our country by misuse of government grants,” Yep continued.

In addition, Yep said that Green’s investigation is a good thing, since it will help clear up any possible wrongdoing.

“This gives Catholics great hope as we understand that our Church needs accountability to restore public confidence and trust,” Yep said. “Also, with the hope that at some point an investigation can be done if there was knowledge or cooperation with some of the sex trafficking that was going on through the adoption process of these unaccompanied minors, if they were taking place at NGO facilities along the Southern border by Catholic Charities.”

Yep added: “If there was knowledge or complicity in these acts then those individuals need to be brought to justice to restore the name and good faith of these Catholic apostolates.”
