In the latest turn in the Middle East conflict, a missile launched by Iran to a U.S. military base in Qatar was deterred by Qatari defenses.

No damages or casualties were reported by the American installation.

Iran took responsibility for the attack on the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest American military installation in the region.

President Donald Trump confirmed there were no casualties or damages during the Iranian attack.

The Epoch Times reported that a key American official said: “I can confirm that Al Udeid Air Base was attacked by short-range and medium-range ballistic missiles originating from Iran today. At this time, there are no reports of U.S. casualties. We are monitoring this situation closely and will provide more information as it becomes available.”

In a long statement on X, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari denounced the attack and said his country’s missile defenses shot down the Iranian barrage.

“The state of Qatar strongly condemns the attack that targeted Al-Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. We consider this a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, its airspace, international law, and the United Nations Charter,” he wrote. “We affirm that Qatar reserves the right to respond directly in a manner equivalent with the nature and scale of this brazen aggression, in line with international law.”

“We are reassured that Qatar’s air defenses successfully thwarted the attack and intercepted the Iranian missiles,” he said.

Iran launched the missile attack Monday in retaliation for the bombing of Iranian nuclear sites by American forces. Iran reported that the number of bombs sent to the U.S. base in Qatar was the same as the number of strikes against Iran.

“I can confirm that Al Udeid Air Base was attacked by short-range and medium-range, ballistic missiles originating from Iran,” a U.S. Defense Department official told Newsmax. “At this time there are no reports of U.S. casualties. We are monitoring the situation closely and will provide more information as it becomes available.”

Al Udeid is the home for about 10,000 U.S. troops who are stationed there, as well as military vehicles, combat jets and other equipment. Still, the forces there took steps to relocate troops and equipment before the attack.
