The Spiritual Arsenal To Stop The Los Angeles Riots

Commentary By Jesse Romero

As a retired Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff, a resident of Los Angeles County California for 52 years and a serious Catholic disciple of Christ, I have some thoughts about how to stop the Los Angeles riots that started on June 6, 2025 when ICE was arresting some illegal immigrants.

We are being ‘gaslit’ by the legacy media, we’re being told that the L.A. riots are peaceful. The Communist’s tactic is to repeat the same line over and over in parrot fashion until people are hypnotized by it. Ex-Communists who have defected from the movement have said that if you repeat over and over that a circle is a square, people will eventually believe it. Nazi activist Joseph Goebbels famously said: “If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and you will even come to believe it yourself.”

Catholicism is based on ‘faith and reason’ to quote an encyclical written by St John Paul II in 1998. The document addresses the relationship between faith and reason in the pursuit of truth. Catholics also believe that “faith without works is dead” (cf. James 2:14-26), this chapter highlights the importance of demonstrating faith through actions. Having said that, I now appeal to another Catholic principle: ‘Church and State’ should NOT be separated. The Church is the soul, and the State is the body. If you separate them, you bring death to a nation.

Pope St. Pius X, wrote in Vehementer Nos , 1906 (Passionately Us): “That the State should be separated from the Church is an absolutely false and most pernicious thesis. For first, since it is based on the principle that religion should be of no concern to the State, it does a grave injury to God.”

Then, Pope Pius XI wrote in Quas Primas, 1925 (In the role of the First) that “Jesus Christ is the universal King of all nations”.

This is why, we understand that President Trump, as head of the government, represents ‘reason’ and ‘works.’ In order to stop these riots and mobs in Los Angeles President Trump is deploying the resources of law enforcement and the military to bring peace and order to the streets of Los Angeles which are out of control and have been taken over by mobs flying Mexican flags, Central American flags, Palestinian flags while at the same time burning American flags in public, looting, throwing bricks and big rocks at police cars and also at the officers themselves aiming at their heads. The protestors are waving a flag of a country they refuse to return to. However, they’re destroying the flag of a country that has given them a much better life. This is the height of ingratitude.

NBC news reported that “Mexican president, Sheinbaum, expressed support for the Mexican community in the United States following mass protests over raids by immigration authorities in Los Angeles”.

The Government officials in California want open borders, they want to change the demographics in California, they want to make California a socialist experiment. They are not cooperating at all with President Trump, they are trying to hinder his efforts.

CforC Good News wrote: “President Donald Trump angered California Democrats like L.A. Mayor Karen Bass and Gov. Newsom when he used the National Guard to clamp down on the riots that broke out during the weekend. Homan warned them that they would be arrested if they “crossed the line.” Newsome said about Homan: “He’s a tough guy. Why doesn’t he do that? He knows where to find me,” Newsom said of Homan in an interview with MSNBC. “What the hell are they doing? These guys need to grow up,” he continued. “They need to stop, and we need to push back. And I’m sorry to be so clear, but that kind of bloviating is exhausting. So, Tom, arrest me. Let’s go,” he added.”

Now, here is where the ‘faith’ and ‘works’ component comes into play with these riots: We need an exorcism done over the city by the chief exorcist of Los Angeles, Archbishop Gomez. His bishopric includes the ‘office of exorcist’ of his diocese (which means ‘territory’ in Greek). He has the spiritual power and authority to drive these infernal spirits out of his Archdiocese. Let me explain, this problem with the rioters is more than social, it is spiritual. Same with these Marxist Hispanics that are rioting, their problem is not political, it’s spiritual.

This is the month of June, the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Archbishop Gomez should call for every Catholic family in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to consecrate their homes to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This is the preferred protocol (Home Enthronement to the Sacred Heart of Jesus) that Mgr. John Esseff (who is the oldest exorcist in the United States) has been using for many years to drive demons out of people’s homes that are ‘infested.’ If the Catholics in Los Angeles County do not consecrate their homes, the violence will continue and possibly even increase. We must do something similar to what St. Francis and Servant of God Brother Sylvester did in Arezzo Italy in the 13th century. As they entered the city of Arezzo, they saw people killing each other, there were riots and senseless violence in the city, much like we’re seeing in Los Angeles right now. As St. Francis of Assisi entered the city, his spirit was disturbed, he said he saw a circle of demons around the town.

St. Bonaventure writes: “One day the blessed Patriarch Francis went to Arezzo. That city, which had long been a prey to civil dissensions, was verging on its ruin. Francis beheld the demons dancing with joy on the walls of the city, and exciting in the hearts of its people the fire of hatred against each other. Calling to him Brother Sylvester, a man of dove-like simplicity, he said, ‘Go to the gate of the city, and in the name of Almighty God command the devils, in virtue of holy obedience, to depart immediately’.”

St. Francis invited this exorcist (servant of God Brother Sylvester) to perform an exorcism over the city while St. Francis of Assisi prayed publicly in the street. As a result of the prayer of these two holy men the violence and the riots came to a halt.

Remember, “the fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful. Elijah was a human being like us; yet he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain upon the land. Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the earth produced its fruit” James 5,16-18

If Archbishop Gomez, and all the bishops would go out in public without fear through the streets of their Diocese with the Blessed Sacrament and pray chapter 3 of the ‘Rite of Exorcism,’ in my opinion, this would end the violence just like St. Francis of Assisi and Servant of God Brother Sylvester ended the violence in Arezzo, Italy centuries ago. The Archbishop can even pray this exorcism ritual from the Cathedral steps. But the problem with our Bishops is that many of them have lost their supernatural faith…Also, it’s possible that many of these rioters are also Catholics – but by name only. They are apostates, lukewarm, Marxist Hispanics who have betrayed their own faith…

Here is the power of a Catholic Bishop when he prays chapter III, ‘Exorcism Against Satan And The Fallen Angels” over a city. Remember, a Catholic Bishop of a Diocese is the Exorcist by Office. He delegates those duties to a subordinate holy Priest under his diocese. (Appendix C Exorcism Against Satan and the Fallen Angels; Part III of the 1614 Rite of Exorcism, also known as the Exorcism of Pope Leo XIII.)

Fr. Philip T. Weller, Rituale Romanum (Roman Ritual), pp. 223-229; Weller’s edition appends a translator’s note that says, “Whereas the preceding rite of exorcism is designated for a particular person, the form given here is meant especially to be employed to expel the devil’s sway over a locality (parish, city, etc.).” (Commentary on the 1985 Letter of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith: On the Current Norms Governing Exorcism). This is why I personally insist, when a Catholic Bishop or the designated exorcist of the Diocese prays chapter 3 of the ‘Rite of Exorcism’ his office and precision of this prayer has the ability to drive demons out of a location. That is a power I can’t even wrap my head around!

Here’s a commentary from Rev Thomas Euteneuer: Here again, the directive is restrictive of “Christ’s faithful,” i.e., the laity.  It restricts in fairly clear terms (“may not employ”) the use of Part III of the 1614 exorcism ritual, which was promulgated during the reign of Pope Leo XIII and added officially to the 1925 revision of the Rite of Exorcism. It is called “Exorcism Against Satan and the Fallen Angels” and has, from its inclusion in the ritual, been considered an exorcism over places, not persons.Exorcism and the Church Militant” pg. 262.

We (laity and clergy) have given strength to the devil by our silence, by not using the spiritual weapons given to us by the Church. The devil has been empowered by the democrat led abortion, LGTBQ, marijuana industry, among other perversities. Our Lord and Our Lady must be very sad…We should consecrate ourselves and our homes every day to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Let’s make sure that our Parish has adoration, and participate in a holy hour at least once a week, pray the daily rosary, the 12 noon angelus and the daily divine mercy. If we do these ascetical practices, our neighborhoods and our families will be protected against violence.
