In an interview with Catholics for Catholics, Jason Jones of the Vulnerable People Project, said the Israeli Military is targeting Christians.

A human rights activist who works in the Middle East said that Catholics and other minorities in Gaza are being ethnically cleansed during the war with Israel.
During an interview with John C. Yep, President of Catholics for Catholics, and Michael Hichborn of The Lepanto Institute, Jason Jones, founder and leader of the Vulnerable People Project, said that Christians in Gaza are being targeted and killed by Israeli military forces. He added that not all Palestinians should be punished for the wrongdoings of Hamas.
“I would hate for people to hate the Jewish people for what the State of Israel does. But we need you to speak up for us. And no one is. And this is why I love Catholics for Catholics,” Jones told Yep on The Catholic Champion Show on Thursday. “If we cannot advocate for the descendants of the families that were in the upper room [with Jesus], if we cannot defend those families that were fishing next to St. Peter and Andrew, who in the world are we going to defend?”

Jones, like Pope Leo XIV, criticizes Israel’s bombing of the only Catholic church and community in the region. The attack has drawn condemnation from all over the world.
“Israel dropped a bomb on the oldest continuous Catholic church in the world where the Christians there descend from the families that walked with Jesus Christ and were in the upper room,” Jones said. “That became very clear to me then that they were waging an indiscriminate war. I began to speak up.”
Israel has denied that the attack on Gaza’s Catholic church was intentional. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that the attack, in which two Catholics were killed and a priest injured, was due to “an unintentional deviation of munitions.”
Starvation
Another harrowing matter in the war between Israel and Gaza is the fact that people are starving there, especially children, Jones said. He added that this should break everyone’s heart, especially Christians.
Jones said that the Israeli government’s goal is to starve Gaza, which Israel has denied. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denied that people were suffering from malnutrition and starvation in Gaza.
Jones countered by saying that Netanyahu was in denial: “They [the Israeli government] are calling Pope Leo a liar. They’re calling Pizzaballa [The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem] a liar. They’re calling the priests from Gaza liars. The Catholics from Gaza liars. They’re calling every human rights organization in the world liars. The World Food Program are liars. The journalists liars. Dave Smith, the great Jewish comedian, liar. Everyone’s lying.”

In an official statement after the interview, Yep said: “Pope Leo XIV has been expressing his concerns about the extremely grave humanitarian situation in Gaza, where the civilian population is being crushed by hunger and continues to be exposed to violence and death. We, American Catholics, are also dismayed by all that is happening in the Gaza Strip, as this endless war is affecting millions of innocent lives including our own Christian brothers and sisters – of whom very few are left alive.”
“They are also suffering the brutal injustices of violence, famine, death, and constant attacks. In fact, the only refuge where they can feel protected, Holy Family – the sole Catholic church in the heart of Gaza – was recently bombed by Israeli military forces,” Yep said.

“All things therefore whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you also to them” Mt 7,12. Our values as a Christian nation have always been based on what is just and true. Precisely for this reason, we Catholics entrusted our vote to a leader who shares these same values,” Yep said. “Therefore, we respectfully renew our call to President Donald J. Trump, who is also aware of this tragic situation, to urgently intervene, help alleviate the hunger and suffering of so many innocent people, and urge for an immediate ceasefire.”
Yep said: “If the IDF does not take immediate action to end the forced starvation then all US aid to Israel should be withheld until the situation has been resolved. Americans don’t want our tax dollars used to starve people and shoot Catholic Churches. We at Catholics for Catholics continue to pray, through the intercession of Our Lady of Peace, Regina Pacis, for all victims—especially children and women—for the release of hostages, and for an end to this war.”
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump addressed the Gaza crisis during a press conference, stating, “everyone who saw the images of starving kids in Gaza would declare it terrible—unless they’re pretty cold-hearted or, worse than that, nuts.”

“We’re going to set up food center with no fences or boundaries to ease access,” Trump said, according to Reuters. He added that the U.S. would work with other countries to provide more humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, including food and sanitation.
