They are coming.

New York City is expected to be “flooded” with ICE agents after an off-duty border patrol officer was shot in the face during a botched robbery by two illegal immigrants.

The Washington Times reported that the struck agent and one of the two migrants — whom police identified as Miguel Francisco Mora Nuñez, an illegal immigrant who was apprehended and released during the Biden border deluge — traded gunfire Saturday; both were hit.

Nuñez should not have been in the country in the first place, said Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. She added that ever since he arrived to the U.S., he accumulated such a vast criminal record that he should have been in jail or placed with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to be deported.

In its place, Noem said, New York’s sanctuary policies permitted him to roam free on the streets.

“They’re setting the American public up to become victims of crime, and it has to stop,” Noem said.

Border czar Tom Homan said he will join Noem in inundating New York City with ICE officers with one goal: to capture illegal immigrants with criminal records.

“We’re gonna flood the zone,” Mr. Homan said.

One of the main culprits is New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Noem said. According to the Homeland Security Secretary, Adams and the city council have refused to work together with ICE when it comes to deporting criminals who are illegal immigrants once they are in jail.

In the meantime, ICE had placed a deportation “detainer” request for Nuñez to be transferred to immigration authorities instead of being released from local custody, Homan said.

Nuñez’s record included assault, grand larceny, armed robbery with a firearm, witness intimidation and arrests for kidnapping, Noem said.
