The settlement money will not go to Trump directly, but to his future presidential library.

In a victory for President Donald Trump over CBS, parent company Paramount agreed to pay $16 million over edits to a “60 Minutes” interview.
Paramount, the parent company of CBS, said in a statement on July 2 that the money paid will be used for the President’s future presidential library, but not for Trump directly or indirectly, according to The Epoch Times. “The settlement does not include a statement of apology or regret,” the company stated.
In October 2024, Trump sued Paramount for $10 billion about how “60 Minutes” conducted an interview with Kamala Harris, then Democratic presidential candidate and Vice President.
According to the lawsuit, CBS mischievously edited the interview in an “attempt to tip the scales in favor of the Democratic Party” during the 2024 presidential election. The lawsuit accused CBS of engaging in “partisan and unlawful acts of election and voter interference through malicious, deceptive, and substantial news distortion.”
According to The Times, CBS denied that the interview was reworked, saying the lawsuit was “completely without merit,” and stated the company would “vigorously defend against it.”
The company agreed to hand over its full unedited transcript and camera feeds in January from the interview to the Federal Communications Commission.
The unedited transcript demonstrated that some of Harris’s answers were cut roughly in half. It also clarified her full response to Bill Whitaker’s question about Netanyahu—which lawyers for Trump referred to in their lawsuit—and that Harris’s complete answer was a combination of the two clips that were aired.
