Once seen as the ultimate symbol of the abortion giant’s power, Prevention Center of Houston will be no more.

Some say it’s almost akin to Mount Doom crashing down.

Encompassing 78,000 square feet, Prevention Park is perhaps known as the world’s largest abortion center. A gargantuan, cubic-designed megacomplex that came to symbolize the harrowing power of Planned Parenthood. But on Friday, the abortion behemoth announced that it was closing down the place.

According to LifeSiteNews, several pro-life activists celebrated the decision. Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins called the news “massive” in an X post.

“Planned Parenthood is closing their infamous Houston mega abortion facility, formerly the largest abortion facility in the Western Hemisphere,” Hawkins wrote. “This is MASSIVE.”

As the imposing Prevention Park building is closing down in Houston, Planned Parenthood, wrote National Review, said that “nearly 200 Planned Parenthood health centers in 24 states across the country are at risk of closure.” Twenty clinics in seven states had already been announced by the beginning of June. Since then, California, Ohio, and Texas have been added to the list.

Abby Johnson, who used to run a Planned Parenthood in Bryan, Texas, when the Houston center was being conceived, recalled when Prevention Park was considered somewhat of a shrine for the abortion giant. According to an interview she gave to National Review, she quit and became a convert to the pro-life cause; she is now dedicated to aiding the staff at abortion clinics to quit.

“My memories of that building are enough to fill many chapters of a book: the unveiling of the plans, the jokes told about the number of babies that would be aborted, the layouts, the type of new equipment we would need because now we would be killing viable babies, which floor my future office would be on, the enormity of the building.” Johnson recalled. “At completion, the building was 78,000 square feet. It has 7 stories. I’ve never been inside, but have prayed outside many times.”

Meanwhile, Melaney Linton, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, lamented the facilities’ closure. “Having to reduce [Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast’s] staffing and future footprint in Houston is heartbreaking, infuriating, and the direct result of […] sustained political attacks,” she said.

According to LifeSiteNews, The Prevention Park abortuary, which has the square footage of roughly one and a half football fields, gained notoriety in 2015 when a Planned Parenthood official in that office admitted to an undercover reporter with the Center for Medical Progress that abortionists sometimes provide “intact” babies’ bodies for organ harvesting and experimentation. The video also showed graphic footage of pristine organs extracted from a 20-week-old aborted baby.

While Texas abortion centers haven’t been able to abort babies since the overturning of Roe v. Wade and the state’s pre-Roe abortion ban going back into effect, Planned Parenthood facilities across the Lone Star State have continued to provide women with contraceptives.
