The Department of Homeland Security is cracking down on migrants who are seeking government benefits but have used or engaged in “Anti-American” behavior. Following President Donald Trump’s order, the agency is blocking these immigrants from advancing their legal status.
According to The Washington Times, under the new policy, shared first with The Washington Times, posting anti-American rhetoric online, advocating antisemitism or articulating common cause with terrorist organizations will now be deemed as an “overwhelmingly negative factor” when U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services rules on an applicant’s case.
The agency declared that it is also growing its rules to urge officers to search on social media and look for anti-American activities.

The modifications are part of a Trump administration push to do more to screen those who seek to put down roots here, said Matthew Tragesser, spokesman for the agency.
“America’s benefits should not be given to those who despise the country and promote anti-American ideologies,” Tragesser said. “Immigration benefits — including to live and work in the United States — remain a privilege, not a right.”
In addition, USCIS said it will also take into account in migrants their past use of Biden-era “parole” programs to enter the U.S. Officers are being told to watch for wrongdoings in someone applying for parole before granting a petition.
Under new Director Joseph Edlow and Trump, the agency is rapidly mobilizing to transfer from employing a lenient tactic during the Biden era, where the benefit of the doubt went to the migrant, where the welfare of the migrant is balanced against those of the nation.
