Israel is poised to invade and take hold of the entire Gaza strip, but intends to hand it over to an unknown Arab force, reported The Times of Israel.
The Times reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel aims to take control of the entire Strip, then turn it over to an unspecified Arab governing force.
Netanyahu said a “detailed plan” will be created for this new, Hamas-less government, Israel will not be installed as a civil government; Palestinian Authority will not have a say or role in the new government, he added, according to The Times.
“We intend to, in order to assure our security, remove Hamas there, enable the population to be free of Gaza (sic), and to pass it civilian governance,” Netanyahu told Fox News. “We don’t want to keep it. We want to have a security perimeter, but we don’t want to govern it. We don’t want to be there as a governing body.”
“We want to end the war very soon. It will be over speedily. If Hamas concedes and lays down their arms and frees hostages, it will be over tomorrow. Even Palestinians in Gaza are fighting Hamas,” Netanyahu said.

Hamas, according to The Times, has categorically rejected Netanyahu’s comments. Jordan said it would solely accept any resolutions on Gaza’s future if Palestinians agreed to them.
But so far, no Arab states have shown signs of accepting Netanyahu’s comments, saying that though they are willing to help in Gaza’s reconstruction, they insist on the inclusion of the Palestinian Authority. They see Ramallah as key to establishing a diplomatic horizon for a two-state solution, by having the same governing body in charge of both the West Bank and Gaza.
Various Middle Eastern countries sent statements on Friday condemning the Israeli government’s approval of a plan to take control of Gaza City, according to CNN.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it condemns Israel’s “adamancy to commit the crimes of starvation of civilians, beastly conduct, and ethnic cleansing against our Palestinian brethren.”
“The inhumane ideas and decisions often gratuitously adopted by the Israeli occupation authorities prove, once again, that they do not understand the existential, historic, and legal relationship that our Palestinian brethren have to that land and that the Palestinian people have a right to it in accordance with international law and human rights,” the Saudi ministry said.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE both called on the United Nations to act.
