President Donald Trump said that the war in Gaza will finally come to an end in the next two or three weeks, after a somber diplomatic effort to conclude the two-year conflagration.

“I think within the next two to three weeks, you’re going to have a pretty good, conclusive — a conclusive ending,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

According to The Times of Israel, Trump seemed vague on his prediction, since Israel has not seemed interested in a ceasefire proposal that Hamas agreed to recently. By contrast, the Israeli government seems poised to invade Gaza City in a plan to conquer it by force.

Still, Trump has again and again used a “two-week” timeline to envisage when major changes will develop, both at home and abroad —from the Russia-Ukraine war, to Iranian nuclear negotiations, to talks on tariffs — though it has often not come to fruition, reported The Times.

Earlier in the summer, Trump continually predicted an impending deal to free hostages that did not happen. Still, Trump appeared to hedge Monday’s prediction about the Gaza war: “It’s a hard thing to say because they’ve been fighting for thousands of years. But I think we’re doing a very good job,” he said. “But it does have to end, but people can’t forget October 7th,” the date of the 2023 Hamas-led massacre of some 1,200 people that launched the war.

Meanwhile, at the war front, Israeli forces hit a main hospital in the Gaza Strip on Monday, striking the place twice, killing at least 20 people and wounding many more.

Israel struck one of the main hospitals in the Gaza Strip on Monday and then hit the facility again as journalists and rescue workers rushed to the scene, killing at least 20 people and wounding scores more, local health workers said.

The Associated Press reported that it was among the most lethal of several Israeli strikes that have hit both hospitals and journalists over the course of the 22-month war sparked by Hamas’ Oct. 7th, 2023, attack, and the assault came as Israel plans to amass its offensive to greatly populated areas.

The office of Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, said the strike on Nasser Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis was a “tragic mishap” and that the military was investigating.
