President Donald Trump said no U.S. ground forces will go to Ukraine.
Initially the president had not discarded the idea of sending troops to help stop the war between Russian and Ukraine, after having a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine’s president.
But during a phone interview with “Fox & Friends” Tuesday, the president was queried on whether U.S. soldiers would be included in protecting Ukraine. His reply was no.
“Well, you have my assurance, and I’m president,” Trump said, according to The Washington Times.

The answer was a more decisive one than the answer he said during a meeting with Zelensky after Trump was questioned about American troops being sent to Ukraine. He replied: “We’ll let you know that, maybe later today.”
Trump said he also wishes that Europe steps up to a leadership position in defending any peace agreement that ensures peace between Russia and Ukraine.
“They are the first line of defense, because they’re there, Europe, but we are going to help them out,” Trump said. “Also, we’ll be involved.”
However, Trump restated that Ukraine will not enter NATO. Also, Crimea will not be returned to Ukraine.
