Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary who came to prominence during the last presidential elections said he will not run for president in 2028.
Kennedy, 71, ran during the 2024 presidential race as a Democrat but changed course and became an independent after the Democratic Party backed the incumbent, Joe Biden, who refused to hold debates and put up other roadblocks to a typical primary.
According to The Epoch Times, in August 2024 Kennedy adjourned his campaign and said he was backing then candidate Donald Trump.
After Trump won the race, he named Kennedy as HHS secretary to enact initiatives as part of the “Make America Healthy Again” agenda. Kennedy Jr. also said he is loyal to President Donald Trump, according to The Epoch Times.
“[Lobbyists are trying] to drive a wedge between President Trump and me, hoping to thwart our team from dismantling the status quo and advancing POTUS’ Make America Healthy Again agenda,” Kennedy said on X. “They’re pushing the flat-out lie that I’m running for president in 2028. Let me be clear: I am not running for president in 2028.”

“The president has made himself the answer to my 20-year prayer that God would put me in a position to end the chronic disease epidemic—and that’s exactly what my team and I will do until the day he leaves office,” Kennedy said.
President Trump will not run in 2028 because he’s already served two terms. The Constitution states that “no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
No one has formally launched a campaign for 2028.
